Get Weight Loss Tips by Dr. Parul Patni



I (Parul Patni) met Asha at a cousin's marriage. She had put on lot of weight after her 3rd child. After spending rest of the evening chit- chatting I finally confronted the elephant on the room and asked her about the weight issue.

She was embarrassed first but then she went on to say that she really wanted to lose weight but was clueless about the way it could  be achieved. On top of it she already felt tired  and drained out  and her energy levels were pretty low. She feared that the  weight loss might leave her with no energy her daily responsibilities. I guess everybody I have interacted with feels the same, but it is simply not true. As a matter of fact the opposite is true. When you get rid of  that extra weight you feel better lighter and more energetic. Excess weight is like extra baggage you are carrying on your back. If you are 20% over weight the additional work required by your body is equivalent to lifting a fridge on your back!!! In any case retuning to health it is not  about "dieting-dieting" or in common terms starving , you see. Its all about eating well and exercising.

She called up after 2 weeks seeking help to knock off some of those kilos. She said it   made her sick to look at herself in  the mirror and she was determined to follow any plan I gave her.  I happily suggested  a few small but significant  changes in Asha's daily routine and she started losing weight swiftly at an average of more than a kg per week.
Believe it or not  this was all by making her eat, as there was no breakfast , fruits, milk in her  earlier diet

From 80kgs to 62 kgs in one month? Good idea?

Clients often come to me with a ‘target’ weight for a fast approaching occasion – a wedding, a holiday, a modeling assignment or even an important event. The idea that they have is to magically transform into a skinny teenager and remain like that from then on. Does it happen?
  
Let’s look at facts closely. How do you lose weight quickly? Can you change your lifestyle in a week? Can you exercise for 5 hours a day to get an hour glass figure? The answer is NO. It doesn’t happen this quickly and scientifically speaking, the body shouldn’t be put through this kind of pressure either.

Losing weight quickly is synonymous with crash dieting. Roughly translated ‘crash dieting’ is ‘starvation’. While the idea is to feel and look good, the deprivation of food leads to other physical problems like low energy levels, mood swings, digestion problems, binge eating and even reduced metabolism rate. (Note that reduce metabolism rate in itself cause your future weight problems)

Fad dieting may help one to lose weight quickly but the reduced weight doesn’t last. People tend to think that once they have reached their desired kilos, they will maintain and remain there. That doesn’t happen though. When one loses weight by only avoiding food, they don’t focus on changing their lifestyle. So, while they are lighter by many kilos, their late night eating, low water consumption, no exercise routine takes them back in no time. The journey back up is much faster!

In a nutshell: there is no short cut to a fit and lean body. The idea is to modify your lifestyle and be able to sustain it.
